The Runamuck Challenge is the original and deservedly the most popular cross country running event in Ireland yes

It take place over a wet and mucky course with various man made and natural obstacles including bale "jumps", net scrambles, ladder bridges, Tarzan swings, ditchs, streams,  tyres and tunnels plus several super slides.

It is designed to test your mental and physical strength, and to leave you with a great big grin on your face cool

Runamuck Spring Challenge VDO HERE

It can be competed in as Solo or as a Team of any number of 3 or more on either the 1 lap Muckers or 2 lap Serious Muckers Courses.

WHAT DISTANCE ARE THE COURSES AND HOW LONG WILL THEY TAKE?

The 1 lap Muckers course is approx 5km long and the 2 lap Serious Muckers option approx 10km. It takes between 25 and 50 minutes to complete a single lap depending on your fitness level and aptitude to overcome the terrain and the obstacles.

WHAT ARE THE ENTRY CATEGORIES?

Solo - 1 lap (Muckers) & 2 laps (Serious Muckers)

Team - 1 lap (Muckers) & 2 Laps(Serious Muckers)

If I have entered will I get a number and timing chip in the post?

NO - Race sign on, timing chip, number, race memento collection, etc is at the race venue on the day of the race?

You should check your exact wave start time on line (it will be e-mailed to you in advance also) and you need  to be at the venue early as your number / timing chip collection must be done a minimum of 1 hour before your allocated start time.

You will collect your number and timing chip at this time -There will be No "Entry On The Day"!

CAN I CHANGE MY MIND AND SWITCH BETWEEN MUCKERS AND SERIOUS MUCKERS OPTION?

Yes - Please notify the organisers in advance by e-mail (info@runamuckchallenge.com ) should you wish to change from the option you selected when entering on-line - Last date for this is 30th Sept 2013 

CAN I RACE SOLO OR AS A TEAM?

Race Entry is open to Individuals and Teams which can be made up of any number from 3 upwards

It is up to the teams themselves whether to race separately or as a group (Our recommendation) as mutual assistance and encouragement at obstacles is actively encouraged and should prove useful to the team's speed around the course.

A minimum of 3 members of teams must complete either the 1 lap or 2 lap courses to be included in the official team rankings and every participant will aditionally receive an individual ranking also. 

The team position will be taken as being when the 3rd member of the team has crossed the finish line.

Please register with the same team name to ensure you will be in with a chance of a team prize

WHAT IS COST* OF ENTRY?

Super Early Entry - €20 Individual or €16/hd for groups of 6+  - Until 30th April 2013

Regular Entry - €25 Individual or €20/hd for groups of 6+   -> From 01/05/13 until 30/06/13
Bit Late Entry - €30 individual or €24/hd for groups of 6+  From 01/07/13 until 31/08/13 unless race quota filled***
Really Late Entry -  €35 Individual or €28/hd for groups of 6+ From 01/09/13 until FULL***

*** Entry strictly limited to first 5,000 entries received

*This cost includes the On-line Entry Service Provider's charges, chip timing, Vat on entry fee and Runamuck Souvenier Mug

WILL CHANGING AND SHOWERING FACILITIES BE PROVIDED?

Very basic changing facilities will be provided on the farm and basic cold water power washer facilities will be available.

Please leave all jewellery and other valuables such as wallets, phones, etc at home or in your locked car - needles in haystacks are easier to find than diamonds in mud.

We recommend you bring an old towel and a small container of water to help you clean more thoroughly and dry off.

A good plastic bag should be brought for your dirty shoes and clothes which should be taken home with you or deposited in one of the Allocated areas int he car park - We will donate all shoes and clothing left behind after the event to a suitable charity.

We will have a key drop area close to registration - please make sure your keys are labelled with your race number - numbers will be available on - line before the event.

Valuables, wallets, watches, clothing, bags cannot be accepted here - key drop only!

WILL THERE BE AN EVENT TEESHIRT?

We will have a limited number of Runamuck Technical Tees available on the day to purchase for €10 or 6 for €50!

Generally demand far exceeds supply so get to sign on early and you will then have a chance to purchase a souvenier tech tee!

WILL THERE BE REFRESHMENTS AVAILABLE AT THE RACE VENUE?

YES - The Last Lap Crew and Gourmet Grill will be serving refreshments at reasonable cost at the venue

WHERE AND WHEN IS Race sign on?

Race sign on/ registration will take place at Clonkeeran House on Saturday morning between 9am and 12.30pm

Registration for each wave will close 1 hour before wave start time so please plan to arrive in plentry of time allowing for the roadworks on the R402 access road to the venue

You will collect your race number, timing chip and souvenier memento / mug at race sign on.

Only one representative from each team needs to collect numbers, numbers chips and mugs (1 person per 10 team members needed to carry mugs!) for the whole team

WHAT IS WAVE START PROCEDURE?

All Start waves will be assigned on the basis of race numbers allocated in advance

Starts will continue between 11am and 2pm with a max ~150 participants every ~5 mins!

Solo competitors will start between 11 and 11.55

Teams can select to start either between 12 and 12.55 (Medium wave) or between 1 and 1.55 (Late Wave) at registration stage.

All team members must start in the same wave

Team prize winners will be assigned on the overall results and will take into account all waves

The Winning Team is the team with the first 3 people finished

i.e. Position of team's 3rd placed runner determines the winner - There is no maximum number on a team

IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE TO TAKE PART?

Yes - Participants must be at least 15 years old on race day to take part

IS A REFUND AVAILABLE IF I CANNOT ATTEND?

No - Once your entry is received we incur on line entry charges and admin costs so unfortunately we are unable to offer a refund unless requested before 15th Sept and if this request is made within 14 days of your registration only.

Transfer of your entry to another competitor (1 transfer per competitor) FOC is being permitted until 30th Sept

SHOULD I TAKE PART IF I HAVE A MEDICAL CONDITION?

No - If your condition is likely to put you or any other person at risk then please do not take part in the Runamuck Challenge

Can I bring my dog to the event?

No - For the safety of all compeditors, dogs are not permitted anywhere at the event even for spectators - no exceptions

CAN MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS COME ALONG TO WATCH?

Your family and friends are welcome to come and enjoy the atmosphere and spectacle of the event but please note that parents or guardians are responsible for supervision of children and must keep them under control and off race route at all times.

Please not that this is a working farm NOT a play area and participants, supporters and family are requested to not interfere with the farm or crops in any way and to take all rubbish home with them or leave it in one of the bins provided.

Where will we be able to park?

Parking is in farm fields and condition of fields will be very dependent on the weather in advance of the event

Please car-pool and use front wheel drive vehicles to make parking easier for all concerned

Bus parking is on a hardstanding area approx 800m from the main sign on / start / finish area

ARE MANY SECTIONS OF THE COURSE ROUGH UNDERFOOT?

Yes - it wil be very rough underfoot in many sections of the course

AM I LIKELY TO GET WET?

Yes  laugh

What should I wear?

Runners with good grips, longsleeved "technical " running top and leggings are recommended.

Heavy sweatshirts and jogging tracksuit bottoms are likely to be heavy and uncomfortable when wet.

Fancy dress is as mad as you chose to make it - Can you be one of the "Fancy Muckers" winners?

RUNNING SPIKES ARE NOT ALLOWED for the Safety of all participants

AM I LIKELY TO GET DIRTY?

Yes - please bring a full change of clothes for after the event and a good plastic bag to take away your dirty clothes and runners

AM I LIKELY TO GET MUCK IN MY SHOES?

Yes - Lots!
